Tattoo Sizing
FOR tattoos, size matters.
Generally speaking, the larger the tattoo the more detail you can pack in.
Smaller tattoos should be limited to very simple line work
if you want your tattoo to last.
Tattoo artists need to know approximately what size your new tattoo will be so that they can plan the design properly for you.
The best plan is to take a ruler or measuring tape and measure out on your body the size of tattoo you are planning.
If you do not have a ruler or tape measure handy when you are thinking about tattoo sizes, here are some common objects to help you visualize the size of your next tattoo.
SIZES OF COMMON OBJECTS FOR REFERENCE
1” x 1” = Standard dice (too small for most tattoo design)
1” x 2” = Standard size domino
2” x 2” = The original size of post it notes, or two dominoes side by side
2” x 3”= Credit card
3” x 4” = Standard index card

8” x 11” = Standard sheet of paper
